One thing that has been omnipresent this year in interiors is metallics. It seems that no room can be complete without some kind of precious metal lurking in the corner somewhere. So here we’re going to take a look at a few of the varieties of metallics that have been everywhere this last year.
Copper was undoubtedly the metal of the year. Its distinctive colouring and delightful ability to age with real vintage character has meant that no tabletop was safe without a copper candlestick perched upon it!
Not to be outdone was brass. This wall sconce shows how simply a touch of brass can work in adding a dignified sense of weight and craftsmanship to the clean whites and soft, feminine touches.
And then at the other end of the spectrum is bronze which as this amazing bathtub shows, adds weight and dignity in large amounts and leaves little room for subtlety!
Silver is often thought of as being so commonplace that it’s easy to forget the simple power it has to add a little magic to a room. For example, this bedroom is given a special sense of wonder through the solid and reliable shape of the silver lamp that works so well with the soft furnishings and wood to give a special bohemian flavour!
And finally no mention of precious metals would be complete without the alluring power of gold. This modern kitchen perfectly illustrates how the simple use of the gold can add light, colour and a whole world of luxury to just about any home!
